Emotional Wellness

It is so important to be connected with the world around us. Life goes by fast and if you don't stop to look around for a second, you'll miss it. It is also important we speak to each other with emotional maturity. So many of us in college find ourselves overwhelmed by everything. It is vital we take time out of our day to connect with the people and things around us. Walking the the park or going to a lake to fish, alone time can help calm the mind and collect thoughts. If you ever have time, check up on the friends you don't speak to as often, you never know, they could be going through a lot. Your one text or call could mean the world to them. We get so caught up with school work, social life, and family connections. It is important to add balance and to reach out if you need help.

Exercise seems to be harder to fit into our schedules the older we get. From coursework loads to eventually maybe having kids. We all have our time constraints, but it is vital we all get in exercise each day. This includes dedication and commitment. I would say at least a half hour a day is manageable for most full time adults with kids. This could even be you pushing your child in a stroller on a decent walk. Exercise is what builds muscle and endurance. Without consistent exercise, the older we get the more likely we will be inmobile and weak. At the end of the day, we all have a choice to make. Do we want to live long healthy lives, or do we choose not to put in the effort.  "Who's gonna row the boats" - David Goggins

A lot of us may have or still can eat whatever and how ever much they please. A diet is not just eating vegetables and drinking milk. A diet consists of meeting macros, water intake, portion control, and many more factors. I would honestly suggest keeping a notebook and write down everything you eat for each meal in a day. This includes macros, calories, and how many portions you had.

Sleep is a Need

Sleeping is a Need The right amount of sleep each night is super important. The proper amount of time someone should be sleeping per night is 8 hours. I mean who doesn't like sleep? I feel that we find it hard to find time to sleep as college students. This is a common wellness concern I have for our generation. Not only do we get less sleep, we end up staying up staring at our screens. This seems to be a huge cause for sleeping in class and lack of energy throughout the day. I think I have the perfect solution to this ongoing issue. We as students seem to forget about time management. Many of us end up deciding to do social activities during the daytime instead of focusing on their studies. There are ways of doing this that create a healthier and more productive lifestyles. Some options may be alarms on your phone to mark work or study times, a planner with your day or week mapped out, or whiteboard with a to do list on it.
